Rudy,
Thanks for the info. I will check out Mr. Wong's shop tomorrow. Never heard of it before.
To tell you a bit about myself, I moved to Medan last year. I had kept fresh water tanks from the time I was 8 years old. Saltwater always intrigued me. Finally, last December i bought a 200 l tank and decided to start a SWT with advice from the LFS.
Well, from there I faced many disasters and wasted a lot of money. With a lot of research and a whole lot more money, I have been able to get things under control. When I started, my levels were thru the roof! I finally realized that the guy from the fish store didn't know much about SWF.
At this point, my parameters are getting better. My ammonia is 0, Nitrates are usually between 10-20 (I would like to get it under 5), my phosphates are 5 (i would like to get it close to 0), ph 8.2
I had always been battling with Ich, so finally in May decided to get rid of it. I moved all my fish to a QT, and only kept inverts and corals in the DT. After 8 weeks of no fish, i added my fish back into the DT this weekend. Everything seems ok so far.
Here is what i have:
fish:
5 Chromis
1 flame tail blenny
(will be adding 2-3 more fish)
Inverts:
Almost a dozen of crabs
2 Emerald crabs
several brittle stars
cone shell snails
cerith snails
2 Bubble tip anemone
Corals:
2 Hammerhead corals
Torch coral
Sun polyps
Mushrooms
Bubble tip coral
and i am planning to add more soon
Equipment:
Protein skimmer
JBJ canister filer (4 trays w/media, flow rate 1500l/hr)
Tunze 45 wavemaker
Vortech mp 10 es
Illumax light fixture (4 X 39W T5HO, 2 X 150 W MH, and moonlight LEDs)
Maintenance:
Daily cleaning, temp monitoring and top-off
Weekly 15% water changes and additives
Fish are being fed twice a day
Corals and Anemone get fed twice a week.
I really love this hobby! I am still learning a lot.
Let me know if you when you are in Medan area.
Best,
S.
